“Accommodation amazing everything you need for a lovely holiday. Location is brilliant. You won't be disappointed in booking this place it has everything you need.” — J.A.

“Beautiful setting”

“The Lawns stands in a beautiful setting, surrounded by trees, a lake and walks. My granddaughter loved the heated outdoor swimming pool. Due to the hot, sunny weather, she didn't use the heated indoor pool, although this would be very welcome during the cooler weather” — Jean

“Totally amazing”

“Totally amazing, have stayed at The Colmer Estate for a number of years now and would never stay anywhere else. Everything about this place is outstanding and we love every moment we are there. The location, the views, the comfort of the accommodation and the entire holiday is just wonderful. Have already re-booked for next year” — MK

Located on the Colmer Estate - Modbury, Devon

Set in the heart of the South Hams, one of Devon’s most beautiful regions, our collection of properties on the Colmer Estate make idyllic retreats for family breaks and escapes with friends. The kind of peaceful estate in the countryside that makes you feel a world away from the hustle and bustle, Colmer Estate’s home to a whole selection of facilities to make your break one to remember.
Classic stone cottage look out across the heated outdoor pool, and sunny days are all about curling up on a sun lounger after a game of tennis on the tennis courts and just enjoying the sounds of the kids having fun in the pool. There’s a fishing lake for the anglers, as well as an indoor pool for the cooler months - and the all-important adventure playground.

Facilities - All our visitors have free access to the wonderful facilities that are available on the Colmer estate

Indoor Pool
The indoor pool is open and heated all year round.

Fitness suite
Above the indoor pool is a rowing machine, an exercise bicycle, a treadmill, a sit up frame and a bench press with weights.

Outdoor Pool
The outdoor pool is open and heated from May to September. Next to the pool you may also enjoy playing table tennis.

The Lake
The fishing lake is well stocked with carp, golden rudd and trout. A fishing licence is available from any Post Office - however children under 14 can fish without a licence.

Walled Garden
Very exciting play equipment for children and a boules pitch for everyone to enjoy. There are also picnic tables to be found. Our walled garden is a very special, safe area and is the only place where ball games are permitted - a football goal net is provided. A brand new log cabin and games room has been added.

Adventure Play Area
This is situated in a clearing in the woods behind the tennis court.

Tennis Court
The all-weather tennis court is always available but depending on demand in the high season guests may occasionally find it necessary to work out a polite booking system.

Once we had a croquet lawn in front of Colmer House but unfortunately the moles found it! The gardener is working hard to restore it and if you feel equal to the challenge the croquet set is kept in the laundry room.

Laundry Room
Washing and tumble drying machines for the use of visitors.

Everything you need. 5/5 Stayed Aug 2018. - JA. Accommodation amazing everything you need for a lovely holiday. Location is brilliant. You won't be disappointed in booking this place it has everything you need

Great property and location 5/5 tayed Oct 2018. melissa h. We really enjoyed our stay at the Lawns - the apartment was warm and cosy with comfortable beds and all the amenities you’d expect from a high quality short break . There is an indoor swimming pool on site and a small gym . It is well- sited to visit lots of beaches and towns with good access and the apartment has its own parking space just outside . I would definitely recommend this apartment to my friends and family , thanks Lorraine and Barry !

Fantastic property in a great location 5/5 Stayed Sep 2018. Paul and Debbie S. We absolutely love the tranquillity of this place , the accommodation is fantastic its like being from home to home with all the amenities that you need , the location is perfect with a short 20 min drive you can be in Kingsbridge , Dartmouth ,Salcombe ,or Bigbury- on-sea , we have now stayed here four times and will defiantly be coming back again, we highly recommend you stay at the lawns Colmer estate , fantastic holiday .

Lovely, clean and spacious apartment in glorious setting with brilliant amenities. 5/5 Stayed Aug 2018. Jacqueline E. Our family stayed in this apartment for one week 18-25 August 2018. The apartment was clean, spacious and had all the mod cons (plus good Wi-Fi!). On arrival, there was even a Devon cream tea awaiting us, which was lovely. The gardens, lake and surroundings were beautiful, and it was an ideal place where you could choose to make acquaintances with the other holiday-makers on the Colmer Estate, or keep yourselves to yourselves! We made full use of the tennis court (which was always available when we popped down there). The best part for our family - myself and 3 children (ages 10, 13 and 15) were the swimming pools - they were glorious! We definitely made full use of both of these warm, large, inviting pools. One of my daughters really suffers in the cold, but when I spoke to the lady maintaining the pools during our stay, she informed me that she kept the pools to 27 degrees and 31 degrees respectively - couldn't get my daughter out of the pool, even at night!! The estate was within 20 minutes drive of some really lovely beaches (some touristy, some really quiet even in August!), plus walkable to the local petrol station to stock up on groceries. There were lots of lovely little walks just in the grounds around the lake, with lots of wildlife-spotting on offer.

All in all, this was a perfect holiday that we will definitely be booking again - a hidden gem in a beautiful part of Devon.

EXCELLENT & Well looked accommodation. 5* 5/5 Stayed Jul 2018. We were thrilled to arrive to such a clean fresh looking accommodation after such a long journey. The Lawns was everything we had hoped for and more and is clearly well maintained and looked after. The location of The Lawns was perfect for us as a family, relaxing on the patio whiles our children played on the lawn (within our view) couldn't of been any more perfect. We will absolutely definitely be back and highly recommend to everyone. It was the best holiday and our first in this country for a number of years! THANK YOU

Lovely relaxing and quality family time in beautiful country surroundings 5/5 Stayed Jul 201. Visited 21-28th July. The Lawns is a beautiful and well equipped family holiday home. Personal touches provided by the owners were lovely and appreciated by our family. The private terrace is a real sun trap and having use of the loungers and outdoor dining table was a great added extra. The grounds of the Colmer Estate are beautiful and well established. Our family really enjoyed using both the outdoor and indoor heated pools throughout the day. We also used the table tennis table by the poolside, the tennis courts and the fishing lake. There is a fish and chip van that visits the campsite just outside the Colmer Estate entrance every Wednesday at 7.30pm. Well worth using. We visited Salcombe which was rather quaint, Kingsbridge where we had a drink at the Crabmill Inn overlooking the estuary and Bigbury-on-Sea where we walked over to Burgh Island. We would love to visit again in the future and it was a pleasure to communicate with Lorraine the owner who made every effort to ensure our family would be comfortable and enjoy our stay. Thank you again to Lorraine and Barry for all of your help and communication. Angela and family

Wonderful 5/5S tayed May 2018 Nicola K. Great location ... everything we wanted to visit was within 30 minutes. Patio area was a real sun trap. Peaceful and beautiful surroundings and lovely to have an indoor pool (which i used every day).

LUXURY APARTMENT ON STUNNING PRIVATE ESTATE (with two heated pools) 5/5 Stayed Jun 2018. If you are looking for a holiday in Devin, then you should consider this apartment in the South Hams area (near Ivybridge). With one double and twin beds, this luxury apartment is set within the Colmer Estate. In addition, the complex has heated indoor AND outdoor pools (a real bonus bearing in mind you don't get the latter overseas!) to cater for all weather! We enjoyed all the facilities during the heat wave in June 2018. Highly recommended for couples and families.

We had a great time 5/5 Stayed Jun 2018 Nataliya B. Lovely property in a very nice location . Ideal place for national trust members. Indoor pool , tennis , table tennis , books , dvds, games will keep you busy in the evening. Clean and bright property , all household items are provided . Owners communication were exceptional and went extra mile to accommodate you. Shop , petrol station and great pub just walking distance which is a big plus .

Relaxing holiday in beauiful surroundings 5/5 Stayed Jun 2018 kerry T. We stayed for a week in the Lawns with our two teenage boys. The apartment was clean, modern and very comfortable. It has a great patio and BBQ area where we could sit and relax. The indoor and outdoor pools are great and we used them every day. The large grounds are well kept, peaceful and impressive. The Colmer Estate is centrally located and ideal for visiting all parts of the beautiful South Hams. We would highly recommend the Lawns and would definitely will be coming back! Thanks for a lovely holiday - Kerry Trigg and family - Leicestershire

Peaceful location. Perfect hideaway for those willing to make their own fun whilst on the estate. 5/5 Stayed May 2018 Claire C. Lovely arrival. The location is fabulous it looks very grand. Property comes with its own parking space which is just below the steps of the entrance. Scones were left for us and on opening the fridge. It contained a small milk, jam, clotted cream and a bottle of wine. The house has lovely views of the garden. The patio area gets a lot of sun especially compared to the apartments at the rear of the property. We had plenty of room for a family of 4. There are a couple of toys upstairs for the children and a lovely selection of books for all ages. Not that anything got used as we were spoilt for choice as to where to go for the day. Although the children would have been more than happy playing in the pools all day. They also made friends with other children staying either side of us. The grounds are safe enough for them all to go exploring together as long as they can be trusted not to go near any water. We went during half term and I think every property on the estate was full. You wouldn't have thought it though. At times we had the both pools to ourselves. Both of which are heated. The indoor pool is especially warm. Without getting the shivers when leaving the water. Great when the weather is cooler outside. There is a small well-stocked spar within walking distance and a pub, which serves some lovely meals. One evening we decided to have a barbecue. On return from the shop we forgot to buy charcoal. On opening the barbecue it contained an instant barbecue. We couldn't believe our luck. We even found matches at the property too. On our trips out we came across plenty of supermarkets. I think tesco extra was the nearest about a 20min drive. I would recommend a trip to Plymouth Aquarium and slightly further away Quines Honey Farm. The Lawns is a perfect hideaway for those who are willing to make their own fun. The property gets very warm with the sun. Even with all windows open at night there is complete silence outside, once all the small birds settle down. The windows also have lovely wooden shutters which do a great job at keeping insects out at night. We would definitely consider returning for another visit. Lorraine was lovely and was very accommodating. My daughter decided to hide my phone on checking out. On returning home I contacted Lorraine and she arranged return. She even sent us some tablecloth drawings for the children. The house had plenty of maps, leaflets and a file containing an interesting read about the estate.

Beautiful place and very relaxing stay 5/5 Stayed Mar 2018 andrina b. Wow, I have never been to South Hams before, or indeed stayed at such a lovely place ( both the Lawns and the Colmer estate). So if I am honest was a little hesitant at what we would find. But I need not have worried, The Colmer estate is beautiful ( even when the weather is against you)..The indoor pool is heated to a perfect temperature and even when you get out to get changed you don't get the usual chill, it was immaculate and we spent each morning there. The tennis courts were great fun, and the views, walks and streams all over the estate were great and beautiful to see so much wildlife.I would definitely though recommend wellingtons if there has been some rain :-). which then brings me to where we stayed. - Wow! This place was beautiful everything had been thought of, from the welcome package all the way through the apartment. The place is clean, beautifully decorated, light airy has everything you could need- you relax the moment you enter the building. A quick overview - Overall the place was extremely clean, had all the cutlery, crockery, glassware you could want. A washing machine, oven and microwave all immaculate. The kitchen itself is very roomy and you could easily sit at the dining table whilst someone still pottering in the kitchen. The sofas are comfy and the lots of room in the front room, and if you get the chance to open the patio doors ( we managed on 2 days) a very lovely sun trap. The bathroom was clean, and everything worked. The hot water was exactly that hot.with a great pressure and the towels left, were proper sized towels, and all soft and fluffy.. The bedrooms, were very tastefully decorated with loads of storage/wardrobe space for hanging things up. The 2nd bedroom had some children books which we made use of as Dr Seuss is a new And most importantly the beds were comfortable and there were enough pillows plus spares so you could have as many or as few as you wished. All in all a fantastic relaxing break - just what we needed. As I said the weather was against us most of the time, but that did not deter a fantastic break and would highly recommend it. Will be back

Spacious, immaculate and lovely view from patio 5/5 Stayed Mar 2018. With a large private patio and grand steps leading down to the beautiful lake, The Lawns evokes a country house escapists dream. The accommodation was beautiful, nicely furnished, spacious yet cosy. The welcome pack and Devon tea eased us into our comfort zone which lasted throughout our stay. A splash in the heated indoor pool put us in the mood for the short drive to Kingsbridge for a wander around the artisan shops then the scenic harbour, pubs and restaurants. Another day we visited Bigbury Bay with its serene river, pristine sands and iconic Burgh Island. The stunning art-deco Burgh Island hotel has featured in quite a few film and TV mysteries and as we wandered around snapping our posh selfies we expected to bump into Agatha Christie’s Hercule Poirot at any moment! The weather was rather chilly so no long beach and countryside rambles this time but we plan to return in the summer with the kids to really enjoy Colmer’s outdoor pool, adventure playground, tennis courts, woods, river and fishing lake.

Very nice accommodation in great location. Excellent facilities for all ages; indoor pool major plus 5/5 Stayed Feb 2018. Delightful accommodation and very clean. Good quality furnishings and good facilities, wi-fi etc. Personal touch of ‘Devon Tea’ awaiting our arrival was very welcoming. Fabulous location - excellent for walks in the grounds, local fishing, short journey to the beach and much more. Major plus of having indoor heated pool. Ideal stay for all age groups. The owners are very accommodating and aim to please. Would thoroughly recommend this holiday cottage.

Excellent! 5/5 Stayed Jan 2018 Heather G. We had an amazing time here. The property is very well furnished and the décor is lovely. I would thoroughly recommend it. The facilities on sire were perfect for our family. We will be back!

Tranquil, idilic and the most beautiful spot! We absolutely love coming here and will keep coming. 5/5 Stayed Jan 2018 Leigh K. The Lawns was immensely clean and warm. The owners had kindly left the Christmas decorations up for us which were tasteful and fitting with the apartment and its beautiful setting. The apartment was lovely and warm as soon as we arrived with gave a welcomed welcome after a wet and very cold journey. It's not our first time and we find something else we love about the apartment and location every time we come. The owners clearly take pride in their accommodation. Always highly recommended and look forward to next time!

The Lawns is a beautiful, cosy cottage which feels home for home and has excellent amenities. 5/5 Stayed Oct 2017 Louise C. The cottage was immaculate with all the facilities you need and it felt comfortable and homely. If the weather is bad it's easy to spend time at home and on the estate with plenty to do. The grounds are beautiful, quiet and peaceful. The indoor pool was a good size and well heated. The local spar shop was really well stocked and even sell "Cook" food which is a bonus. The location was very central to lots of beaches and towns and museums. Despite the poor weather it was a really enjoyable holiday. The owners took a great deal of care in ensuring we had everything we needed and giving us information about where to go etc. They even provided clotted cream and scones on arrival which was a lovely touch. I'd go back anytime and recommend this cottage to people with our without children.

Beautiful location 4/5 Stayed Sep 2017 Polly B. We stayed for 4 nights with our 3 year old and 2 month old. Lorraine was really helpful with directions and information about the property. The place itself was lovely. Loads for my 3 year old to do outside with the grounds and the play area, and on the one rainy afternoon we had we loved the indoor pool. We visited the butterfly house, otter sanctuary and Pennywell farm which were all great and within a short drive so perfect with toddlers. We would definitely go back.

We look forward to hearing from you soon
